Film Streaming Website Design

Cinelogue is a curated streaming platform dedicated to showcasing cinema beyond the Western canon. A carefully curated library of films from the independent cinema landscape, Cinelogue presents movies by critically acclaimed and emerging filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Oceania. Cinelogue approached Conlumina with the aim of revamping its website to enhance user experience, sustainability, and overall quality.

The Challenge

Cinelogue’s former website, built on Webflow, posed challenges in terms of maintainability and scalability. Additionally, Cinelogue sought to introduce a new subscription model, multilingual support, and improved user interaction features. The task was to transition from the current backend to a more robust WordPress-based system while ensuring multilingual support, robust payment gateways, and enhanced user experience and accessibility across various devices and languages.

The Solution

Our approach involved a comprehensive overhaul of Cinelogue’s website. We crafted a custom WordPress theme tailored to Cinelogue’s unique needs, prioritising modularity, maintainability, and minimalist design principles. Leveraging a token-based design system, we rebuilt the frontend to offer a cohesive and intuitive user experience, catering to a diverse audience.

To accommodate the multilingual nature of Cinelogue’s audience, we seamlessly integrated support for English, German, French, and Arabic, including specialised layouts for right-to-left (RTL) text flows. We meticulously ensured compatibility with various payment gateways and devised a streamlined user signup flow to facilitate the new subscription model seamlessly.

To achieve best-of-class page load speed, the Cinelogue website was hosted on our own, fully managed cloud hosting infrastructure, using a Cloudflare-protected LiteSpeed server with Redis object caching. The switch from the old to the new website was instantaneous.

Cinelogue’s revamped platform now offers a seamless streaming experience to a global audience, accessible in multiple languages. The introduction of the subscription model and diverse payment gateways enhances the platform’s sustainability and revenue streams.

Moreover, our efforts significantly boosted the website’s speed and performance, achieving a perfect 100/100 score in Google PageSpeed Insights.
